Thought and Creation

To tell the truth, I don't often wear rain gear when I'm snogging. Even if it's to protect me from the rain, wrapping a physical membrane around me inevitably leads to sweat and dampness. Recently, rainwear that boasts a certain degree of breathability has been sold, but I don't think it solves these problems. This is easy to imagine, considering that even highly breathable shells without a waterproof/breathable coating can't instantly release sweat. That said, there are still situations where I need to wear rain gear. Tabigarasu was conceived as a garment that would minimize the discomfort of sweat in those situations. It's more like a curtain that covers the body and backpack than a garment. A similar item is a rain poncho, but this design is simpler, inspired by the raincoat worn by Tabigarasu on his journey to protect himself from the wind and rain.

Comfort

This is Ryo's ultimate raincoat, designed to withstand not only the rain but also the wind and cold. It's sized for the 40L-50L backpacks most commonly used for shinogi, and will not fit small backpacks typically used for hiking. Unlike typical rainwear, Tabigarasu is not confining, instead completely covering the body and backpack. The front closure uses snap buttons instead of a waterproof zipper, which may allow rain to seep in under certain conditions. However, the design is designed to withstand this, or "know enough." The snap buttons allow for adjustable ventilation and easy access to a topographical map, which you frequently access to check your location, or a camera to record your shinogi. Some may be concerned about the hoodless design, but since shinogi is limited to the forested areas below the tree line, simply wearing a rain hat will suffice.

Dressing

It also goes well with flowing items like hakama skirts and futae trousers, but the kunai is best suited to tatsuke, which is reminiscent of the attire of a traveling crow. If it gets blown up by a strong wind, you can protect it by tying the corners of the back hem together in front of your stomach, or by attaching a thin string to the loop and tying it. If you are worried about your legs from the knees getting wet, you can use it with a tsuyuharahi to protect a wider area from the rain. It can also be used as a large rug when you unpack at your vacation home.

Material features

The unique ripstop nylon, with its somewhat Japanese aesthetic, is treated with a waterproof and breathable coating with a 2.5-layer construction that provides a water resistance of 10,000mm and a breathability of 7,000g/m²/day. Unlike 3-layer materials, 2.5-layer materials do not have a backing layer to absorb rain and sweat, allowing them to dry faster. They are also windproof and water-repellent, making them strong against wind and able to repel rain and dirt.
