DEVELOPMENT
This product was developed through a joint project with the aim of creating "the best mountain sunglasses from a Japanese brand that can be used in harsh environments."
- Unique frame jointly developed by two companies: The frame was mainly supervised by STATIC, and the design was handled by OWL MILS - Environmentally friendly: The frame is made from 45% plant-based materials, which has a low environmental impact. - Equipped with the brand's best lenses: Lens development is carried out by a long-established lens manufacturer that produces MILS LENS under the supervision of STATIC.
The name comes from Ama no Murakumo no Tsurugi, one of the three sacred treasures, and embodies our desire to elevate the status of sunglasses in the world of gear.
" MILS LENS RED SHADOW "
We've developed the RED SHADOW lens, which offers high visibility and color reproduction even in the harsh environments of snowy mountains. While retaining the polarized and high-contrast functionality that's the OWL MILS lens' greatest feature, this lens is worthy of the evolved FLAGSHIP name. It suppresses red and orange wavelengths, enhancing the visibility of blue and green colors for greater clarity. Because it offers high visibility in cool colors, it's particularly effective when engaging in activities in snow or on snowy slopes.
Additionally, the mirror effect overcomes glare compared to conventional products. Another advantage of these lenses is that despite the flash mirror finish, the difference in visible light transmittance compared to regular OWL MILS lenses is only 1%. This improves visibility in harsh environments while maintaining a bright and clear field of vision. In addition, the backside is AR coated to suppress reflections on the lens, supporting clearer vision. The mirror is thin and does not have a glaring appearance, making it easy to wear.
*The ATLAS flash mirror has a 6% lower visible light transmittance than regular MILS lenses due to the mirror effect. MILS LENS RED SHADOW is a lens that achieves the contradictory effects of reducing glare while maintaining the brightness of the lens. *The front and back are water-repellent, designed for use on snow. This ensures a dry lens surface.
In harsh environments, visibility can be a big concern, and the 4 curves in the current OWL MILS lineup tend to offer slightly less light blocking. For this reason, Murakumo has adopted the 6 curve, which offers the best balance between visibility and light blocking.
The frame is made of Rilsan® Clear, which contains 45% plant-derived ingredients and is lightweight, flexible, and highly resistant to chemicals, making it an ideal material for sunglasses frames.
Six-curve sunglasses may give off a sporty impression, but Murakumo has taken great care in the design, adding keyholes and other details to create a more casual look. Furthermore, by eliminating as many lines as possible from the frame itself, the sporty look is further reduced, resulting in a design that is not too sporty.
