FUNCTION

This hiking model is for hikers who want to walk as far as they can. Based on the ZEN SOCKS and TRAIL MAGIC, it is tough, but the terry knit sole provides excellent cushioning and flexibility. The fabric is knitted looser than usual and uses special stretch yarn to achieve a comfortable fit without being too tight. The large, three-dimensional knit heel and arch support prevent slippage.

HAVE A HOLE SUITABLE FOR KARABINER

The HIKER TRASH socks have holes at the top for a carabiner. This was inspired by the way long-distance hikers would poke holes in their wet socks with a knife and hang them on their tents or backpacks to dry. Dry socks always make hikers happy!

USE WASHABLE MERINO WOOL

Made with machine-washable merino wool, merino wool has excellent heat retention and moisture absorption/release properties, protecting the body from cold sweat and the elements. Its natural antibacterial properties also help prevent the growth of odor-causing bacteria, making it a comfortable material that doesn't easily become smelly.

Extremely Tough

Long distance hiking, where you'll be walking all day, requires durable socks.

The socks are made with merino wool and knitted together with nylon and polyester, making them extremely durable.

In abrasion tests to measure the durability of socks, No. HT30004 (HYOH "HIKE TREK CREW") recorded approximately 3,300 wears on the toe and heel, and approximately 2,800 wears on the sole. The thickness of the pile knit fabric and its flexible stretchability improve durability.

*Generally, the pass mark for casual socks is approximately 500 to 1,000 times, and for sports socks it is 2,500 to 3,000 times.

FIELD TEST

In 2017, SKETCH (RYOSUKE KAWATO) field-tested a prototype of the HIKER TRASH while hiking the 5,000km Continental Divide Trail, the most difficult of the three major trails in the United States. Any damage that occurred along the way was reported back to the team in Japan, and improvements were made and the product was sent back to the United States. The HIKER TRASH series was born from this repeated process, and it offers the true toughness that hikers require.

I tested the ZEN MONK on the JMT in the US and the Great Walk in New Zealand, and the split toes made it easy and very comfortable to quickly change from shoes to sandals.
